 Here's a summary of the key findings from the 2019 consumer survey conducted by the California Association of Realtors:

1. Top Reasons for Selling a Home:

   - The primary reasons for selling a home shifted to changes in family status and the desire for a better location.

   - Changing family status was the most common reason cited for selling, followed by the desire for a better location.

   - Downsizing also emerged as a significant motive for selling.

2. Challenges Faced by Home Sellers:

   - Home sellers faced various challenges during the selling process.

   - Cleaning and preparing the home for showings, waiting for the home to sell, and negotiating the final sale price were among the top challenges.

   - Emotional attachment to the home, the need to move out before selling, and ensuring all documents were in order were also mentioned as challenges.

3. Assistance Needed by Sellers:

   - Sellers often required assistance with multiple aspects of the sale.

   - Key areas where sellers sought help included negotiating the terms of the sale, determining the listing price, and receiving advice on selling timing and the sequence of the sale.

4. Difficulty Finding Suitable Replacement Property:

   - Approximately one out of every five home sellers faced difficulty in finding a suitable replacement property.

   - This challenge highlighted the competitive nature of the real estate market, where finding a new home could be challenging.

5. Relocation Within the Same Area:

   - Two-thirds of home sellers chose to stay within the same county, and in many cases, within the same city.

   - This trend indicated that a significant portion of sellers preferred to remain in their current geographical area when moving.

These findings provide valuable insights into the motivations, challenges, and needs of home sellers in 2019 according to the California Association of Realtors' consumer survey.
